In a very busy and speedy life we might forget our mobile or lost in a train/cab, but don't worry if you lost or forget your mobile to anywhere. There are few steps to follow immediately after you lost your mobile.

If you lose an Android device i.e., mobile phone, tablet, or smart watch, you can find, lock, or erase it. There is awesome feature called "Find My Device". That is on by default for Android devices associated with a Google Account.

There is few prerequisites to use Find My Device, your lost device must be
  • Turned on
  • Connected to mobile data or Wi-Fi
  • Location turned on
  • Find My Device turned on
  • Signed in to a Google Account
  • Visible on Google Play

Remotely find, lock, or erase

When Find My Device connects with a device, you can see the device's location, and the device gets a notification.

  • Step-1 Open android.com/find and sign in to your Google Account.
  • Step-2 If you have more than one device, click the lost device at the top of the screen.
  • Step-3 On the map, see about where the device is. The location is approximate (Last location your device when it is connected with GPS) and may not be accurate. If your device can't be found, Find My Device will show its last known location, if available.
  • Step-4 Select any of one option. If you want to lock and erase data from your device, first click Enable lock & erase.
    • Play sound: It will rings your device at full volume for 5 minutes, even if device is set to silent or vibrate
    • Lock: It will Locks your device with your PIN, pattern, or password. If you didn't have a lock, you can set new one. You can add a recovery message or phone number to the lock screen.
    • Erase: It will permanently deletes all data on your device. (It may not delete SD cards.) After you erase your device, Find My Device won't work on the device.
