Google wants to help you find a job with its new service

Image
It looks like Google is preparing to go head to head with services like Greenhouse, Jobvite, and others. The online search giant will launch Google Hire, a service that allows companies to post job listings as well as accept and manage applications. Google Hire hasn’t been officially announced yet, but the website is already live. The sign in page is visible to everyone, while everything else is hidden at the moment. As of now, there’s no word on exactly when the service will be launched. However, based on the fact that the website is already up, we probably won’t have to wait for much longer. According to Axios, quite a few technology companies are already working with Google and testing out the new platform. These include Medisas, Poynt, DramaFever, SingleHop, and CoreOS. The company will try to expand its enterprise business with the help of Google Hire. The project is part of Google’s enterprise and cloud division led by Diane Green, who is the founder Bepop, a company a...

One year later, I'd still take the iPhone SE over the iPhone 7

The truth is there's no such thing as an objectively "best" smartphone. There's a fastest smartphone, and a phone with the best screen, and maybe a phone with  the best camera  . But, so long as it hits a baseline of  good  enough performance, the best total package is the one that works best for you. I say this because over the past year I have come to appreciate Apple's iPhone SE much more than I anticipated. I am someone who cycles through phones like it's my job (because it is), and I only bought Apple's small-screen handset on a lark last April, after shattering the screen on my old Moto X. Nothing about the iPhone SE's  spec sheet  is particularly impressive. It runs on Apple's A9 chip, which is more than a year old. Its screen isn't anything special by modern standards. There's no 3D Touch. Its back camera is easily outclassed by today's flagships, and its front camera is entirely average. Most notably, its whole design is ...

Reliance Jio Is Going Big With Jio Tv; It Now Has 432 Channels to Stream Live TV Across 15 Regional Languages

Image
Slowly, India is becoming more like the European and American countries in terms of telecom segment. Various telecom operators in countries such as the US and Europe are focusing heavily on providing content to the users. While in the US, there are many players such as the AT&T, Verizon, etc. aiming for the top spot, but thankfully, in India, we have only a few players who are into the content game. Airtel and Jio are the aggressive content providers in the country with other players such as Vodafone and Idea just entering the space. Jio especially is embarking its name not only as a telecom operator but also as a digital content provider with services such as JioMusic, JioCinema, JioTv, etc. With the JioTv application, Reliance Jio Infocomm (RJIL) intends to take on the cable TV and DTH operators. To a good extent, Jio has managed to achieve that already. Currently, the JioTv app has 432 channels to stream live TV across 15 regional languages. JioTv (earlier kno...

Apple has ordered 70m units of OLED panels: sources

Image
Apple has placed orders for bendable organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels with Samsung Electronics for use in 70 million handsets this year, sources told Nikkei Asian Review. The large order suggests that Apple expects its new premium iPhone 8 to be launched late 2017 to fly off the shelves. A supply chain source familiar with iPhone designs revealed the size of the order, which was in line with an estimate by David Hsieh, senior director at research company IHS Markit. It will be the first time Apple adopts a curved OLED screen for its iPhones, marking a major overhaul and generating high expectations for the model. "Apple has ordered 70 million units of OLED panels from Samsung this year, while Samsung is preparing to churn out as many as 95 million for Apple in 2017, in case demand exceeds expectations," Hsieh said. He says Samsung will be the sole OLED supplier to Apple as it has the most advanced technologies in this field. "It is also possi...

Android overtakes Windows as the internet’s most used operating system

Image
Mobile is today as important, if not more important, than desktops when it comes to the internet and apps. A clear reminder of that comes with news of a report claiming that Google’s Android has overtaken Windows as the internet’s most used operating system. Research from web analytics company StatCounter found Android now accounts for a larger share of internet usage than Windows for the first time. During March 2017, Android users represented 37.93 percent of activity on StatCounter’s network versus 37.91 percent for the Microsoft operating system. It’s a small gap for sure — and it refers to usage not necessary users — but it marks a notable tipping point that has been inevitable for the past couple of years. StatCounter — which bases its findings on 2.5 million websites that it claims generate more than 15 billion monthly page views — tracked the gradual converge of usage for the two operating systems over time. The chart highlights Microsoft’s failure to challenge wi...
